Overview

HDR is seeking a Site Civil Engineer (PE) for the Building Engineering Services group in Chicago, Illinois. The role supports the Data Center market with future opportunities across Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, and Sports & Recreation facilities and infrastructure. You will coordinate and contribute to a multidiscipline design team through planning, schematic and construction design, and construction administration. This position requires experience in land development and building-related site civil design (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control). The ideal candidate is self-motivated, collaborative, and demonstrates leadership with a drive to deliver high-quality, technically sound designs. Responsibilities

Design and produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimates for site layouts, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and related civil activities. Perform site development calculations (stormwater pond sizing, culvert and pipe capacity analysis, hydrology calculations, etc.). Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed; serve as Engineer of Record on non-complex projects. Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed. Author technically sound, well-organized reports. Contribute to development of civil engineering scope of work and budgets for proposals. Coordinate with internal and external resources to complete due diligence research and documentation. Understand and meet jurisdictional requirements and coordinate design solutions with authorities having jurisdiction. Transition concept plans through schematic and construction design processes. Coordinate with subconsultants and attend client meetings; communicate effectively with managers and team members. Manage time and multiple tasks/projects; pursue efficiencies and mentor junior staff. Be an advocate for HDR, the BES group, and the Site Civil team. Perform other tasks that support HDR’s mission and BES goals. Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 3 years of experience in general civil engineering. Proficient with CAD civil software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D; familiarity with OpenFlows or similar platforms as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the position location. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
