Overview
West Virginia University Health System, the state’s largest health system and largest private employer, comprises 18 hospitals throughout the state and bordering states. West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Orthopaedics seek a Sports Medicine Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Responsibilities
Practice in the area of orthopaedic sports surgery.
Provide excellent patient care and actively teach medical students, residents, and fellows in clinic, operating room, and didactic settings.
Engage in scholarly research; evidence of interest and success in research is expected.
Full-time faculty position with emphasis on treating a wide variety of sports medicine–related injuries.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent; eligible for state medical licensure.
Completed orthopaedic surgery residency and sports medicine fellowship.
Board certified or eligible in orthopaedic surgery.
Our Department of Orthopaedics has approximately 40 full-time faculty across sub-specialties and emphasizes collaboration, superior patient outcomes, and ongoing clinical operation improvements. As a leader in research, we pursue efficient, collaborative, and translational work to improve patient outcomes and advance musculoskeletal research from bench to bedside. Our sports practice serves West Virginia University athletic programs, working closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals.
