Overview

Jr. Cartographer position with at least 1+ years of professional experience in cartographic design and geospatial production to support the development, maintenance, and dissemination of high-quality mapping products. The candidate will apply cartographic principles, GIS software expertise, and attention to detail to meet mission requirements outlined in the RFQ. The Jr. Cartographer will work collaboratively with geospatial analysts, data scientists, and program stakeholders to deliver authoritative mapping solutions that support decision-making, planning, and operational missions. Responsibilities

Map Design & Production: Create, update, and maintain cartographic products including topographic, thematic, and situational maps. Apply cartographic design principles to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability. Produce maps in both digital and print-ready formats. Geospatial Data Integration: Collect, analyze, and process geospatial data from multiple sources (satellite imagery, LiDAR, vector/raster datasets). Ensure data accuracy, quality assurance, and compliance with federal geospatial standards. Support metadata development and documentation for cartographic products. Software & Tools: Utilize Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, and other GIS/cartographic platforms. Leverage Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and other visualization tools for cartographic refinement. Apply scripting (Python, Arcade, ModelBuilder) to streamline map production workflows. Collaboration & Outreach: Gather requirements from stakeholders and ensure products meet mission needs. Participate in training, outreach, and user support to maximize the effectiveness of cartographic products. Contribute to cross-functional geospatial projects, providing subject matter expertise on cartography. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Cartography, Geography, GIS, or related field (Master’s preferred). 1+ years of professional experience in cartography, GIS, or geospatial visualization. 5+ years of experience required without a degree. Demonstrated proficiency with Esri ArcGIS software suite and geospatial data formats. Experience in cartographic design principles, symbolization, and visualization techniques. Strong skills in map production, QA/QC, and metadata documentation. Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with federal agencies (DHS, DoD, USGS, NGA, or similar). Familiarity with federal geospatial standards (FGDC, SDSFIE, DHS guidelines). Knowledge of remote sensing data integration into cartographic products. Exposure to cloud-based GIS environments (ArcGIS Enterprise, AWS, Azure). Technical certifications (e.g., Esri Technical Certification). Security Clearance

TS/SCI clearance is required. Seniority level
