Overview

Boston University’s College of Communication seeks a detail oriented Financial/Business Administrator. The candidate will report to the Executive Director of Finance and support the College of Communication’s financial and administrative functions with various COM Departments in creating efficiency in departmental processes and providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty and external constituents. The position, based on the Boston University campus, is full-time, hybrid (3/2) and eligible for the University’s comprehensive benefits program for staff. It supports day-to-day financial, academic, logistical, and administrative needs and involves maintaining internal project database information, billing clients, preparing revenue reports, checking the status of pending commitments, student payroll, filing and archiving information, onboarding new hires, and other human resources tasks along with other financial operations of the college. Responsibilities

Student Payroll (30%): work with faculty and staff to assess needs for student workers, post and hire student employees, complete the process, and ensure Work Study Awards are properly processed, collaborating with the Assistant Director of Financial Aid for Graduate Students when processing Teaching, Graduate and Research Assistants. Procurement and Travel (20%): create purchase requisitions, act as departmental liaison for procurement inquiries, manage purchases via university procurement credit card and/or SAP Guided Buying, issue travel requests and reimbursements, and connect programs to additional funding resources within the college. Grant Administration (20%): collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and research faculty on Pre-Award budgets, coordinate with departments to gather documentation, and manage Post-Award compliance and record-keeping. Financial Management (20%): in collaboration with the Executive Director of Finance, maintain budget adherence and reconciliation across all departments, grants, and designated funding; manage restricted funds by providing quarterly reports to fund managers to ensure proper expenditure and compliance with gift restrictions. Business Office Administration (10%): provide high-level customer service to students, faculty, staff, and BU Community; respond to sourcing and procurement, student payroll, and general finance inquiries; assist with mailroom distribution, guest parking passes, and room requests. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of SAP is a plus. Ability to input and manage large datasets with very high attention to detail; strong organizational and multitasking skills. Experience with computer databases and spreadsheets; discretion with confidential information. Commitment to working with a diverse population and strong customer-service focus; outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Compensation

Salary range: $53,200 - $71,900 annually. Final salary offered may vary based on experience, qualifications, and scope of the role. Additional Information
