Summary

Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, has a full-time opportunity for a BC/BE pediatric endocrinologist. This is an opportunity to concentrate primarily on inpatient clinical care in a hospital-based setting. The endocrinology inpatient unit serves infants and children with endocrine disorders admitted to the medical center. Hypoglycemia babies are admitted to a dedicated Neonatal ICU Pod with specialized nursing staff. The position offers a flexible schedule with the opportunity to focus primarily on in-patient care, with some outpatient clinics if desired. Involvement in clinical research and teaching is not required but there are plentiful opportunities, including adjunct affiliations with local medical schools (TCU and UNT). The endocrinology team is led by Division Chief Dr. Paul Thornton and includes 13 board-certified pediatric endocrinologists, 5 advanced practice providers (4 certified pediatric nurse practitioners and 1 physician assistant), CDCES, psychologists, dietitians and social work. One of the world’s respected congenital hyperinsulinism centers is at Cook Children’s. The department also includes a lipid clinic and a CAH comprehensive care center among seven other multispecialty clinics. The organization maintains three health-care system endowed chairs. Location

40 Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) required. American Heart Association BLS and PALS Unrestricted Texas Medical license (must obtain prior to start date). Must have successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Medical Association (AMA) approved residency for pediatrics.
