The role of Attending Physician is to provide the medical management of the various patient care programs as assigned. Maintains effective lines of communications with the medical staff, nursing, social work and management, and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care. Responsibilities

Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients. Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare/Medicaid and third party payers requirements. Performs CPT and ICD10 coding for each patient encounter. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Participation in Medical Staff meetings and committees/sub-committees as applicable. Participates in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs to improve patient care. Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel related to overall patient management. Maintains current standards of acceptable medical practice. Participates in educational programs specific to patient care. Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment. Meets productivity standards and attends meetings and conferences as directed. Participates in mandatory educational programs and in-service training to maintain job competency skills. Maintains effective communication and working relationships with Jackson Health System medical personnel in the community. Collaborates with Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Nursing in the clinical management of patients. Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities. Adheres to Standards of Excellence and maintains patient confidentiality and privacy according to policies and regulations. Complies with all applicable JHS policies, laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements (including HIPAA and clinical trials protocol). Completes unusual occurrence reports in accordance with P&P. Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and maintains vigilance for breaks in protocol. Maintains current knowledge on procedures, instruments, and equipment; integrates knowledge and skills into practice. Performs other related duties as assigned. Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. Education

Doctorate degree in Medicine is required. (PEM) Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is required. Credentials

Valid Florida Medical License. Active DEA and board certification or eligible (PEM) is required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintained for duration of employment.
