Responsibilities Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, and select vascular exams.

Ensure high-quality imaging while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Interact daily with patients, physicians, and other healthcare staff to coordinate care and communicate findings.

Maintain equipment and follow proper protocols for ultrasound operations and infection control.

Includes occasional weekend shifts and participation in on-call and holiday coverage as needed.

Job Description Essential Responsibilities Reviews charts, selects appropriate equipment and transducers for tests as ordered. Interview patients, obtain necessary information, explain procedures, alleviate apprehensions and position patient appropriately.

Records images on PACS, and provides images on film/paper when needed. Provides preliminary interpretation and may convey preliminary interpretation to requesting physician after discussion with radiologist. Assess images for diagnostic quality.

Performs routine clerical duties, answers phones, schedules patients, orders supplies, distributes results, keeps work area clean, and makes entries in computer.

Performs high-level disinfection of ultrasound transducers; compliant with infection control. Training completed initially with annual refreshers.

Required Qualifications Vocational or Technical training in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required. Associate's degree in Ultrasound preferred.

Registration in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

0-1 years related work experience required.

New hires will have 30 days to provide BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

ARDMS certification in Abdominal and/or OB/GYN specialties.

Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications.

Age-based Competencies

Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult (16-30), Middle Age (30-60), Elderly (60+).

Physical Nature of the Job

Very Heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force continually. Employee is physically active in all elements of the job.
