Overview
Optometrist, Correctional Facility – Salinas Valley State Prison, Monterey County (SVSP). Part-time position (20 hours per week). Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Receiver’s Medical Executive, the Optometrist conducts examinations of the eye using observation and instruments to determine visual acuity, perception, focus, and coordination to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities for the patient. Maintains order and supervises the conduct of incarcerated persons and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.
Additional duties related to the role are described in the Duty Statement and within the context of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) responsibilities and mission.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid license to practice optometry in the State of California.
Two years of experience in the practice of optometry.
