Join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team at Denton County MHMR Center, a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and Local Mental Health Authority dedicated to providing high-quality, trauma-informed, and person-centered psychiatric care to individuals living with serious mental illness. We are seeking a compassionate, board-certified Psychiatrist who is motivated by clinical excellence, community impact, and a trauma informed, person centered approach to care.

As a psychiatrist on our team, you will provide clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with mental health needs in both outpatient and crisis settings. This role involves working with individuals across the lifespan, many of whom experience co-occurring behavioral health conditions, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders.

Preferred Qualities

A strong belief in the value of community-based psychiatry and recovery-oriented care. Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-occurring substance use disorders. Strong communication skills, collaborative mindset, and a commitment to trauma-informed practice. Comfort with telehealth delivery models and modern electronic documentation systems.

Expectations

Ability to provide services face-to-face and via telemedicine. Participation in after-hours on-call rotation (shared among psychiatric staff). Comfortable providing care to individuals in crisis and walk-in clients. Committed to timely documentation and adherence to regulatory and billing guidelines (TAC, HHSC, CMS, etc.). Participation in required Center meetings, trainings, and emergency interventions when needed. Maintains high ethical standards and protects client confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and diagnostic services in outpatient, crisis, and telehealth settings. Develop and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with an integrated team of nurses, case managers, therapists, and peer support specialists. Provide timely and accurate documentation using our Electronic Health Record system to ensure continuity and quality of care. Actively participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams, contributing to care planning, recovery strategies, and coordination with external providers. Offer crisis intervention services, including participation in on-call rotations and support to the Crisis Residential Unit. Supervise and delegate prescriptive authority to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (APRN) in accordance with Texas Medical Board requirements. Support the development of less experienced providers through mentorship, clinical consultation, and peer collaboration. Serve as a medical consultant for case management and clinical teams, promoting recovery-focused interventions. Complete required documentation for determinations, prior authorizations, and other support forms to reduce barriers to care. Other duties as assigned.
