Where You Will Work District Six North Dade Maintenance 1773 NE 205th Street North Miami Beach, Florida 33179

The Work You Will Do

Operates vehicles and a variety of large equipment including road graders, sewer cleaners and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance.

Performs minor maintenance and servicing work on equipment (check/add fluids, brakes, tire air pressure, etc.).

Assists in repair of operating equipment and cleans/washes equipment.

Supervise Department of Corrections inmate crews performing maintenance activities (optional) and oversee contracted crews (optional).

Coordinate, participate, and direct the maintenance activity of the assigned crew; help select materials, supplies, equipment, and plan workloads.

Maintain operation records and prepare daily crew activity reports and daily vehicle checklists.

Perform independent manual labor incidental to job assignments and Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).

Perform rough carpentry, masonry, painting, and assist in the assembly/erection of highway signs.

Train crew members in operation of heavy equipment and basic Temporary Traffic Control.

Pay Range: Bi-weekly $1,703.04 - $2,203.94; Annual $44,279.13 - $57,302.41

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive of $1,976 will be added to the annual salary.

Your Specific Responsibilities

Operate vehicles and a variety of large equipment for bridge and roadway maintenance; perform routine maintenance and servicing.

Supervise inmate crews (optional) and oversee contracted employees (optional).

Coordinate and direct maintenance activities, inspect materials/equipment, plan workloads, and maintain records (e.g., daily crew activity reports, vehicle checklists).

Perform temporary traffic control and related duties; assist with crew training and reporting.

Oversee safety and quality in maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with DOT standards.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge Of : Mathematical calculations; standard safety rules and procedures; highway/bridge maintenance techniques and equipment.

Skills In : Operating hand and power tools; operating and performing minor maintenance on large equipment; completing job-related reports; clear verbal and written communication.

Ability To : Operate heavy equipment; train others; read and understand job materials; develop and maintain effective working relationships; lift up to 50 pounds; work outdoors in various conditions; stand for extended periods.

Other Job-Related Requirements

Must respond to emergencies and be on-call (24-hour) when necessary; must operate a commercial motor vehicle (CDL) as required.

A valid Class A CDL is required at time of hire.

Must obtain certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Intermediate Level within one year.

May be required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates.

During a declared emergency, you may be required to assist the district as needed.

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency and four years of infrastructure construction or maintenance experience. An additional year of experience (total five years) may substitute for the high school diploma. A valid Class A CDL is required at time of hire.

Requirements

Valid Class A driver license with acceptable driving record per the Department’s policy.

Unacceptable driving record criteria listed (e.g., multiple moving violations, reckless driving, suspensions) will disqualify.
