Full Time, 0.9 FTE. Night shift position (12 hour shifts). Salary range: $49.30 – $77.46. Sign on bonus available for eligible candidates.

Overview

PeaceHealth is seeking an RN for our Surgical Unit.

Job Description

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in the development of and maintain hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

Experience

  • Minimum one year RN experience in an acute care facility required or (for RN residents) successful completion of a training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.
  • Experience in caring for post ICU, trauma, urology and gynecology patients is preferred.

Credentials

  • Required: State of Oregon nursing license
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)
  • See community specific document for each Unit/Department required credentials. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment. (Required)
  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures. (Required)
  • Basic computer skills. (Required)

Working Conditions

  • Lifting: Patient handling up to 35 lbs without assistive equipment; push/pull up to 45 lbs; ability to perform CPR with appropriate force.
  • Environmental: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles; ability to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
  • Mental/Visual: Vision and hearing within normal limits; ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
