RN CVICU – PeaceHealth

Part Time, 0.6 FTE. Night shift position (12 hour shifts). Salary range: $49.30 - $77.46 per hour. This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

PeaceHealth is seeking an RN for our CVICU.

Hiring rate is dependent upon education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. A hiring bonus may be available for eligible candidates.

This position is for a CVICU RN in a center with Chest Pain Center designation, Stroke Certification, a 5-star CMS rating, and an A rating from Leap Frog Safety scores.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to other team members according to their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in development of and maintenance of hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management of ventriculostomy, EVD, and ICP.
  • Nursing care of patients with non-traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), seizures.
  • Nursing care of patients post tPA, thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, carotid artery stenting and intracranial stenting.
  • Management of blood pressure abnormalities with parenteral vasoactive agents.
  • Completion of complex neurological assessments/scales.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of six months critical care RN experience in an acute care facility within the last five years required, or successful completion of an approved critical care training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year RN experience in an Intensive Care unit specializing in Cardiac, Neuro or Trauma.

Credentials

  • Required: State of Oregon nursing license
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ACLS & NIHSS required within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Required: CSU-ALS required within 12 months of hire/transfer
  • Preferred: CCRN, CSC, CMC

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth, development, and life-stage considerations to meet patient needs (Required)
  • Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family-centered care (Required)
  • Ability to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures (Required)
  • Basic computer skills (Required)

Working Conditions

  • Lifting: Patient handling up to 35 lbs without assistive equipment; other lifting up to 45 lbs with equipment; frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and repositioning
  • Push/Pull: Frequent up to 45 lbs (e.g., medical carts)
  • Ability to perform hands-on CPR as required
  • Environment: Exposed to biohazards, body fluids and airborne particles; capable of performing tasks in a noisy environment
  • Mental/Visual: Normal vision and hearing with accommodations as needed; ability to communicate accurately
