Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Utica, New York. Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns, identifying changes and documenting conditions and responses
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved neonatal nursing techniques
  • Perform neonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and specialized neonatal screenings
  • Operate and manage advanced NICU equipment (e.g., ventilators, CPAP machines, infusion pumps) and ensure proper functionality
  • Assist with life-saving and diagnostic neonatal procedures (e.g., umbilical line placement and intubation)
  • Educate and support parents on neonatal care, including feeding techniques and developmental care
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for neonates in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Adhere to infection control measures and hospital safety standards
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and therapists to optimize neonatal outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Comply with regulatory standards and hospital policies

Required Qualifications

  • One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC)
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position

  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment, push/pull, and bend
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills to assist with procedures and operate department equipment
  • Ability to cope with deadlines, irregular schedules, and detail-oriented work
  • Visual acuity and the ability to effectively communicate
