Job Title: Registered Nurse – Operating Room (RN)

Location: Houston, TX

Candidates must be willing to travel between both locations (2 in Houston).

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• Shift times vary by need: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Surgical scrubs provided

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in delivering high-quality, age-specific patient care and will foster effective working relationships with all members of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and clinic. This role requires clear and courteous communication regarding patient conditions with physicians, anesthesia providers, management, staff, patients, families, and visitors. The RN will perform safe and competent operative nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and AORN/ASPAN standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
• Assist in surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment and supporting the surgical team.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in condition during procedures.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care and education to patients and families.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff development activities.

Required Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license
• Minimum of 2–3 years of Operating Room experience
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Experience in Pre-Op, Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), Emergency Room (ER), Infusion Therapy, ASC, or hospital settings
• Experience in multi-specialty care including plastic surgery, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, and gynecology
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
