Flour Bakery is now hiring a
full-time driver/receiver
to be based out of our production kitchen in the Seaport of Boston!!
The regular schedule for a driver/receiver is 5:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Saturday - Wednesday, with Thursdays and Fridays off
We are seeking self-motivated individuals who thrive in a fun and positive work environment and feel confident driving delivery vans in Boston and Cambridge. You'll be receiving orders, packing orders to go to one of our locations, and driving a van to deliver those orders, all while maintaining a strong sense of internal hospitality to all the staff and vendors you encounter throughout the day.
Receiver Day-to-day Performance Expectations:
Fill orders daily on time and with precision. Check deliveries to verify piece count, and check for obvious damage. Sign for deliveries with appropriate adjustments noted on invoice. Put away deliveries in a neat and timely manner while following all food safety protocols including time & temp and FIFO. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen including coolers, freezer, and dry storage. Ability to lift up to 60lbs The shift is very physically active, you are constantly on your feet and moving through the kitchen and working in highly diverse temperatures through the day (in the walk-in refrigerator and freezers, near the ovens, in the loading dock area) Driver Day-to-day Performance Expectations:
Complete deliveries to our guests (our bakeries) daily on time and with precision. Maintain an exemplary driving history. Our team must be the friendliest drivers on the road! Staying on task and on schedule to accommodate the needs of our bakeries. Responsible for making deliveries outside of bakeries regular work hours, including without fail locking bakeries and setting alarms. Maintain a clean and organized van. It is the driver's responsibility to complete regular maintenance of their assigned vehicle as well as keep the vehicle clean and in good order. The shift is very physically active, you are constantly on your feet and moving through the kitchen and working in highly diverse temperatures through the day as well as loading and unloading outdoors in all types of weather. Skills for Qualification:
Open availability to work, including early mornings, weekends and holidays Valid US driver's license held for a minimum of 3 years and at least 1 year in Massachusetts Holds a valid license with clean driving record A background check is required for this position Professional experience as a driver and/or receiver preferred Ability to stand for long periods and repetitively walk, push, pull, reach, and lift
Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours We ask for a minimum commitment of one year. Unfortunately, we do not offer seasonal or temporary work
Work Environment:
Ability to work for extended periods of time in extreme temperatures; walk-in coolers, freezers, hot ovens, and stoves as well as outdoors during all of the New England seasons. Must be able to work in an environment with loud noises and machinery. We do our best not to cross-contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests.
Compensation:
The starting wage for this position is $19-$21 per hour ($19 per hour + a shared percentage of the sales known as the BOH appreciation, which on average adds around $2 per hour).
