Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Ultrasound Tech Specialty: Breast Imaging Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Flexible Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 7:30 am - 4 pm Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in ultrasound preferred License: R.D.M.S. registered Certifications: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Must-Have: - Proficient in Breast Ultrasound Techniques - Knowledge of Breast Anatomy and Pathology - Ability to perform CPR - Understanding of safety, infection, and disaster policies Description: The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high-frequency sound waves. The role assists medical personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities. Essential job functions include performing procedures according to departmental format, completing exams in the allotted time. Daily clerical duties include using a computer system for patient scheduling and maintaining records of ultrasound images. Portable ultrasound exams are performed as needed. A variety of complex technical tasks will involve using sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities, including masses and stones, following prescribed sonographic procedures. The technologist prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, and positions patients accordingly. Evaluating the technical quality of images and obtaining necessary images of conditions according to standard procedures is crucial. Routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning will be part of the responsibilities. Cleaning and sterilizing instruments, supplies, and equipment is essential to maintain a safe environment. Providing technical assistance to students and residents is expected. Physical demands include lifting a minimum of 25 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 50 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours per day. Adherence to the organization's standards of behavior, attendance, and punctuality is required. Identifying patient needs and modifying care accordingly is crucial. Participation in quality control and assurance programs to maintain image quality and equipment performance is expected.
