Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accounting function for multiple real estate investment entities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and disbursements for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation
• Prepare and review cash flow distribution models, confirming alignment with deal structures and legal agreements
• Interpret and analyze legal documents to determine the correct accounting treatment and ensure all investor and stakeholder deliverables are met on time
• Evaluate transactions such as repurchases and prepayments to assess their impact on cash flow timing and waterfall priorities
• Collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners to support smooth operations and resolve accounting inquiries
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance workflow efficiency and accuracy
• Supervise, train, and mentor a small accounting team while serving as a technical resource for complex accounting matters
• Support annual audits, tax filings, and management reporting, along with assisting on special projects and ad hoc financial analyses
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred
• Active CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred
• 4-7 years of progressive experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a mix of both
• At least 1 year of managerial, supervisory experience
• Prior experience in financial services or real estate industries preferred
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research
