Job Description

General Description:
This position maintains a quality, comfortable and safe environment for students, faculty and staff by utilizing knowledge and experience as a qualified Electrician. This position is responsible to performs maintenance and repair, plus trouble shooting of electrical problems. Campus may vary, if needed.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Technical advisor on electrical matters and evaluate contracted electrical work.
  • Exercise independent judgment in applying prescribed policies, procedures and technical knowledge in the electrical field.
  • Responsible for reviewing small projects documents to ensure proper interface with existing systems ensuring contractors comply with Federal, State, and College regulations, procedures and safety codes through supervision and inspection.
  • Maintain electrical equipment and systems, correct problems, and perform new electrical installations in compliance with National Electrical Codes.
  • Performs main electrical installation/repair work and preventive maintenance to include fire alarm system, sprinkler systems and emergency call boxes on the campus.
  • Orders and keeps an inventory of electrical parts.
  • Completes work orders in a timely manner and records information in the Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Coordinate with Facility Manager for any guidance.
  • Essential personnel to participate in snow removal & other duties.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

KSAs:
  • Ability to work from heights and ladders.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Ability to function in close quarters, or cramped environment.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold weather for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work any required shifts.
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.
  • Journeyman trade license or equivalent.
  • Experience with residential and commercial wiring and electrical repairs.
  • Experience in using computer and software applications effectively.
Additional Considerations

Additional Considerations:
  • Experience in AAS Electrical Technology.
  • Experience with Computerize Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Work Order system.
  • Experience working in educational facility.
  • Experience working with blueprints, diagrams or sketches.
