Job Title: Secretary/Attendance Clerk
Terms of Employment: 196 days
Basic Function:
- Serves as confidential attendance clerk and secretary to the principal and as a facilitator for the school public being served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, route calls
- Maintains school records and files for building, principal and related requirements
- Serves as confidential secretary to principal
- Distributes mail for entire building
- Reviews principals mail, brings attention to important pieces of mail.
- Greets visitors
- Types, prepares, distributes, files records/reports, correspondence etc. related to building
functions and principal needs.
- Assists/orientates substitute teachers
- Processes attendance/payroll for the building staff
- Takes/transcribes notes for correspondence
- Attends Open House
- Help with Perkins Grant
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of :
- The student data software program
- District operations, policies and procedures
- Oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
- Work confidentially and with discretion
- Microsoft Office
Ability to:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff, and students
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year previous office experience.
**Any Knowledge of Technical Education Database System (TEDS) would be a plus.
Must have: Office Skills, Good Communication Skills, Experience with Finance, Computer Skills and Organization Skills
