Basic Job Functions: Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Lead the division in maintaining compliance with air, water, and waste regulations, tank management, emergency plans, and environmental management system (EMS) and training. Prepare and submit required environmental compliance-related reports to agencies, including but not limited to: Air Emissions Inventory, Annual Waste Summary, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), discharge monitoring reports (DMRs). Interact with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies on permitting, compliance, facility inspections, and outreach. Represent Kirby at Corporate and NBG Environmental meetings, training sessions, and plant audits. Moderate travel required. Track and submit division metrics as related to corporate requirements/President’s Environmental Award Statistics. Ability to work in a team setting or independently on projects. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent. One year of environmental compliance experience with a focus on regulatory permitting. Strong organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook. Valid driver’s license. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future). Preferred Qualifications: 4-year degree in environmental, health, safety, or related technical field. 3+ years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing field Ability and desire to promote into a senior-level environmental role at other Nucor divisions.
