Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school.

Program Operation

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follow syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to college policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.

Students

  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with the program coordinator to resolve issues.

Instruction

  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc., as appropriate.
  • In the event of emergency absence, notify the program/department chair.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A qualified faculty member teaching PHLB XXX meets the Healthcare Specialist program standard or all three of the following:
  • Possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Possesses current Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification from ASCP, Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification, Medical Technologist (MT) certification, Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or National Healthcare Association Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
  • At least 2 years of directly related work experience.

Healthcare Specialist Program Standard

A qualified faculty member in Healthcare Specialist meets all three of the following criteria:

  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regional accredited institution;
  • Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience;
  • Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline.

Other Requirements

Official college transcripts required upon hiring, and employment is contingent on acceptable criminal background checks.

Work Hours

Day, evening, and/or Saturday classes based on schedule and enrollment.

Hiring Range

$47.35 per classroom contact hour.
