Boiling Springs Animal Hospital has an opportunity for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team!
Location: 550 Park Dr, Boiling Springs, PA 17007
Shift Details: Full time (30+ hours a week). Availability for afternoons and evenings, and at least one Saturday per month.
Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00/hour (based on experience)

Job Summary
The Receptionist is the first and last contact that a client will have with the hospital and is key to creating first and lasting impressions. The Receptionist must have exceptional client service and communication skills, computer literacy, ability to handle payment and financial issues, ability to multi-task, a friendly attitude, and the confidence to deal with stressful situations. The Receptionist will support veterinarians, technicians, veterinary assistants, groomers, and kennel staff in daily patient and client care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH.
- Greet clients and pets by name with a smile and a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Answer phones promptly and professionally using a multi-line phone system; assist with inquiries about basic animal care, routine procedures, services, and products; provide knowledgeable advice about wellness, prevention, and diseases.
- Screen and route calls to appropriate staff; take and deliver messages; pull medical records as needed.
- Schedule appointments and surgeries; make confirmation calls.
- Document key discussion details in medical records (date, time, key points, required information).
- Enter accurate charges; explain invoices; reflect doctor recommendations at checkout.
- Collect payments (cash, credit) and verify IDs for checks.
- Verify eligibility of clients with charge accounts.
- Maintain accurate client addresses, phones, and emails; scan documents to patient records.
- Fill prescription refill forms and provide routine administration instructions to clients.
- Advise clients on flea/tick preventatives, heartworm preventatives, pre-anesthetic testing, pain management, shampoos, home dental products, and other retail items.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to MPH core values.
- Computer knowledge and comfort with email/internet.
- Working knowledge of veterinary terminology; ability to pronounce, spell, and understand meanings.
- Excellent spelling and grammar.
- Ability to handle varied, sometimes difficult conditions; exposure to highly emotional situations.
- Tact and respect with clients and team members, even when busy.
- Confident, calm, and professional demeanor with clients and staff under stressful conditions.
- Genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in animal care.
