JWright Companies Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy construction equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations on our job sites.

Responsibilities

Diagnostics and Repair:

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and graders.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and scheduled service on heavy equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Replace and repair parts as necessary, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic components.
  • Perform oil changes, lubrication, and other fluid maintenance tasks.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and inspections performed on equipment.
  • Document all work performed and parts used in repair and maintenance activities.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while performing job duties.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following proper safety protocols and wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with construction managers, equipment operators, and other team members to prioritize repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Provide recommendations for equipment improvements and upgrades.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proven experience with a wide range of construction equipment, including both diesel and gasoline engines.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification or degree in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license; Class B CDL required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility for possible weekend availability based on project demands.
