Overview

Merchandiser and cashier responsibilities on the sales floor include greeting customers, directing them to products or parts specialists, checking out customers, and deterring shoplifters. Maintain front area stock, display merchandise according to planograms, and complete sales preparation. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers on the sales floor and assist them in locating merchandise or direct them to the parts specialist for hard parts.
  • Check in, price, and stock merchandise; keep the front display stocked, fronted, and clean daily.
  • Make display changes according to company guidelines and planograms; update all out-front price changes and ensure sale signs are in place.
  • Stock merchandise at a level that maintains sufficient quantities on display and remove sale materials when the sale ends, restoring original pricing.
  • Assist with stock adjustments, cycle counts, and overstock returns.
  • Work with the manager to complete store To Do List and Team Weekly tasks.
  • Act as the main shoplifting deterrent and front-floor security.
  • Assist with O’Reilly Image Maker responsibilities.
  • Clock in/out according to company policy.

Cashier Responsibilities

  • Check out customers purchasing front floor merchandise in a quick and friendly manner.
  • Handle merchandise returns from customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Assist with tickets, payments, and cash handling when the express lane is busy.

Skills / Education / Knowledge / Experience / Abilities

  • Required: Good numerical aptitude, strong interpersonal communication skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Desired: Previous cashier and/or stocking experience; ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle; fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
