Unit Secretary - Clinical Support Coordinator

Provide administrative support to the unit. This position is a 12-nightshift 7 pm to 7:30 am (scheduled days rotate; includes alternating weekends).

Employment Type: Full time
Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and receive communications from Nursing Unit Director or designated Charge Nurse and Nursing Unit staff verbally, via telephone, mail, pneumatic tube, and computer system.
  • Communicate effectively with patients or their families to meet the needs of the population served.
  • Assemble new charts, record specified clinical information, file reports, imprint forms in clinical record, check discharge chart for completion by nurse responsible, maintains patient records.
  • Operate computer for transcribing diagnostic orders and other computer transactions as presented.
  • Maintain pertinent hospital data and records.
  • Order and maintain supplies for the nursing unit.
  • Actively participate in all Codes and drills as scheduled.
  • Perform other job-related duties within job scope as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A Certificate of satisfactory completion of a formal Unit Secretary program or previous related experience in a hospital is required.
  • Good customer-service and communication skills.
