Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Cook - Restaurant is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes that delight our guests. The culinary team executes menu items efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness. The goal is to ensure the Adobe Clubhouse food is top-notch.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients (cutting, chopping, marinating) and follow recipes to cook dishes accurately and efficiently.
  • Grill, sauté, bake, fry or cook menu items to order, ensuring dishes meet Adobe Clubhouse standards for taste and presentation.
  • Monitor food quality throughout the cooking process.
  • Understand the food and beverage menus, including ingredients, techniques, and allergen information to answer guest questions and make recommendations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management to ensure timely ordering; minimize waste through proper portioning and storage.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, organized workspace and equipment throughout the shift.
  • Take out trash when needed.

Other Duties

  • May be scheduled for banquet events.
  • Participates in pre-shift meetings, taste tests, and training.
  • Wash dishes and operate dishwashing equipment; distribute and store clean dishes and pots.
  • Conform with safety standards and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Follow good personal hygiene guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Culinary degree or certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum one year cooking (line and/or prep) experience in a full-service restaurant.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, culinary terminology, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes.
  • Strong time management and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with kitchen and restaurant staff.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Highly organized to manage multiple orders.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changes in workflow, menu items, staff, etc.
  • Ability to remain calm during peak hours or with challenging guests.
  • Working knowledge of food handling and cooking regulations.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Unexpired Arizona food certifications. Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Position may utilize golf carts; thus, a valid driver’s license is required.

Other

  • Regular attendance is required. Additional hours including weekends may be required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The job requires talking and hearing, standing, walking, handling objects, reaching with hands and arms, and lifting between 25 and 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is indoors and outdoors with possible extreme temperatures and moderate noise. Schedules may vary and include weekends and holidays.

OSHA Category

Category I: Position involves activities with a high risk of direct contact with potentially hazardous situations; appropriate precautions are required.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting Pay: $21 to $23 per hour, depending on experience.
