Overview
Join to apply for the Production Supervisor role at Winland Foods. This is a contract leadership role that gives production associates direction in safety, quality, and productivity. The Production Supervisor will facilitate and execute the production department’s action plans, implement corrective action plans that create long-term solutions to systemic problems, and support operators to ensure the ongoing operation of the facility. The role involves building a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture on the production floor by coaching and facilitating CI toolsets and standard processes to production employees.
The Supervisor will be accountable for utilizing team-based problem-solving techniques (e.g., gembas, 5S, root cause analysis) to investigate and mitigate causes of performance gaps on the production line. They will work to develop associate capability in operating and maintaining line equipment to foster a sense of “machine ownership” and CI on the line. The Supervisor must ensure that the training matrix for their line and machine is completed within the timeframe set by plant management and lead teams with urgency to make success routine on the floor.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily start up, routine production and changeover processes for assigned lines using SAP tools.
- Schedule personnel including training, callouts, and temporary employees.
- Maintain records for reprocessing and verify accuracy of downtime worksheets and daily production reports.
- Collect, verify, and file production checklists and verify production numbers with warehouse and packing.
- Implement the production plan for the shift and ensure the current schedule is followed.
- Manage indirect material inventory to meet production demands.
- Coordinate with Quality Control on holds to implement new procedures and prevent issues.
- Coordinate maintenance work orders for Production and manage recovery of non-conforming product back into production.
- Implement corrective actions and CI initiatives to improve processes per management.
- Maintain GMP/5S guidelines and participate in assigned projects.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures and achieve safety objectives.
- Develop and deliver presentations as required and support Plant safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or related field required.
- Strong CI/Training background; knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and data interpretation to drive performance; Excel and Power BI used.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead production employees and coordinate with management.
- Ability to draft reports, develop one-point lessons, and publish training materials.
Physical Activity / Working Conditions
- Work is performed in locations inside and outside the Plant with exposure to temperature extremes, high noise, wetness, heights, dust, moving equipment, vibrations, and vapors. Equipment includes pumps, valves, piping, tanks, machinery, computers, control panels, forklifts, tools, and PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
- Employees must comply with all safety policies and safe work procedures.
- Job tasks may involve lifting up to 55 pounds, repetitive motion, bending, standing, and working at heights. Travel to other sites may periodically be required.
