Job Purpose
Production Scheduler will serve as the operational translator between customer demand and plant execution, turning sales forecasts and confirmed orders into accurate, capacity-aware production schedules (typically 5–7 days ahead), while managing inventory flow and working cross-functionally to deliver safe, on‑time, high‑volume chocolate production in full compliance with GMP/HACCP food‑safety standards.
Job Purpose
Production Scheduler will serve as the operational translator between customer demand and plant execution, turning sales forecasts and confirmed orders into accurate, capacity-aware production schedules (typically 5–7 days ahead), while managing inventory flow and working cross-functionally to deliver safe, on‑time, high‑volume chocolate production in full compliance with GMP/HACCP food‑safety standards.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Plans, sequences, and manages daily/weekly production runs across lines, optimizing changeover sequence to maximize throughput and run‑rate efficiency while minimizing downtime
- Monitors and adjusts production schedule in near‑real time, typically 5–7 days out, responding to demand shifts, labor/equipment disruptions, packaging changes, or ingredient delays
- Maintains continuous communication on schedule updates or disruptions via intra‑team channels, daily review meetings, and appropriate escalation protocols
- Coordinates upstream with procurement to flag raw‑material and packaging shortages, reviewing lead‑time constraints and issuing alerts to prevent interruptions
- Develops and distributes key performance reports on a daily/weekly/monthly to relevant stakeholders
- Drives continuous improvement by identifying constraints (bottleneck, staffing, set‑up lines) and facilitating lean scheduling or staffing adjustments in collaboration with leadership
- Ensures full compliance with food‑safety and quality protocols (GMP, HACCP, SQF/SMETA) mitigating scheduling decisions that might compromise safety or traceability.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, MIS, ERP Systems or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Knowledge of production scheduling and inventory management principles.
- Knowledge and daily compliance of all GMP and Food Safety programs
- Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all Safety programs & Procedures
- Ability to work overtime and/or weekends, or Holidays when required
- Ability to adjust to work changing conditions, flexibility and adaptation is key
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
- Occasional walking and standing during visits to the production floor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when handling materials or samples.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in the production area.
