Job Summary

Development of assembly processes based on customer requirements, quality systems, financial investment, and labor plans. Manage the implementation of new processes, selection of equipment to be purchased, and timing estimates. Resolve issues with quality plans, product design, manufacturability, or build process steps. Participate in adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency. Consult on and oversee selection and implementation of automation and robotics in assembly processes. Manage activities using the Process Development System according to the ME timeline.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed manufacturing plans for new programs that will require new equipment or retooling existing equipment.
  • Prepare all sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for major outside tooling and equipment purchases (e.g., continuity testers, alignment equipment, balancers, uniformity equipment).
  • Gather all relevant product information, production rates, and assembly requirements from customer contacts.
  • Prepare equipment operators by assisting the launch team with training; provide reference and support resources.
  • Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Monitor and support plant with equipment installation and launch.
  • Review sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for major outside tooling and equipment purchases.
  • Work with PC&L team to optimize material flow to production line.
  • Understand Android operations (Sequencing/subassembly, shipping and receiving).
  • Be responsible for equipment certification and run-off; provide feedback and escalate issues to leadership.
  • Ensure proper OEE.
  • Coordinate with Plant team members to ensure lessons learned, best practices, and plant goals are integrated into the new production process.
  • Coordinate program change requests.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance to improve throughput, scrap/rework reduction, reduce cost, and improve quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineer to drive PFMEA, Control Plans, and related quality controls back into design and ensure a robust Manufacturing System.
  • Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
  • Maintain equipment records by filing documents and updating the equipment database.
  • Protect organization value by keeping information confidential and alerting others to potential breaches.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and have a positive attitude; effectively interact with and develop people; teach and continuously improve all areas of the business.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing; 2+ years of experience with APQP system.
  • Supervisory experience in manufacturing is preferred.

Travel

Travel Required: Minimal

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General understanding of manufacturing processes, Android operations (sequencing, subassembly, shipping and receiving, tooling).
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, equipment, automation, engineering specifications, and cost reduction in automotive assembly applications.
  • High level of analytical ability and problem-solving skills for unusual and difficult problems.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
  • Proficient with GD&T, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members and leadership.
  • Working knowledge of IATF quality system.
  • High level computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
