ColonialWebb is looking for Plumbing/Pipefitter Mechanics to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems. We seek team members who can teach, coach, and provide direction to apprentices and helpers to work safely and deliver quality.

Location: 2820 Ackley Avenue, Richmond, VA 23228
Environment: Fabrication Shop
Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, M-F
Responsibilities
- Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
- Survey structure to identify obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
- Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using necessary tools.
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools.
- Cut and thread pipe using necessary tools.
- Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals, plastics, and other materials using hand and power tools.
- Join pipes with appropriate supplies (screws, fittings, solder, brazing, grooving, plastic solvent, welding wire).
- Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to identify leaks.
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, and related equipment.
- Work safely, encourage others to do so, and comply with health and safety rules and practices.
Qualifications
- Safety-minded with knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
- Work experience as a plumber, mechanic, or pipefitter for commercial construction (journeyman level preferred but not required).
- Experience with layouts and ability to read and work from drawings.
- Ability to direct the work of a helper or apprentice.
- Initiative; self-motivated, self-starter.
- Knowledge of basic construction/shop math.
- Knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC).
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- A reliable source of transportation to and from work.
