What You Will Learn
Responsible for operating a forklift or other powered material handling equipment (MHE) to move and stock merchandise. Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties. Drives electric powered MHE equipped with lifting devices to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, move, stack and stage product and materials using a forklift, transtacker, clamp truck, or other powered equipment
- Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
- Inspect and perform minor maintenance on assigned equipment
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods and OHSA standards
- Receiving / Putaway: unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations
- Efficiently stack and store merchandise in appropriate areas
- Picking: assemble components and collateral materials for production, ensuring exact quantity and type
- Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring correct quantity and type
- Loading: move product from staging/storage into rail cars, trailers or containers
- Quality: ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and undamaged; report variances
- Safety, Housekeeping, Security: maintain a clean, safe work area; assist in warehouse security; follow safety programs and procedures
- Inventory: maintain records to ensure tight inventory control; assist in physical inventories; ensure stock rotation
- Communication: coordinate with other departments as needed
- Value-Add Services: labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking; perform special projects as assigned
Working Conditions
- Frequent movements such as handling, reaching, and operating forklift controls
- Drive forklift/trans-stacker up to 40 feet above ground
- Operate a computer terminal and handheld scanning devices
- Operate stretch wrap machines, pallet up-ender, and scales
- Work independently and as part of a team; manage time effectively
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety procedures
- Visual/auditory acuity to read packing slips, invoices, labels, and computer screens
- Work flexible hours/shifts, including overtime
- Complete forklift certification tests and demonstrate good attendance
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a warehouse environment (preferred)
- Must meet OSHA and company requirements for L'Oréal forklift certification and MHE training
- Preferred: intermediate computer skills
- Preferred: SAP systems knowledge
