The Office of Instruction is seeking a work study eligible student to work as a Welding Lab Support.
The welding lab support position is open to students eligible for work study funding to be verified by the LCC Financial Aid Office. This position reports to the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Industrial Technology and works in close collaboration with the welding program faculty for day-to-day duties. Â Â
This position helps support the welding program by assisting in the welding shop and classroom. Duties include organizing material and equipment, cleaning, stocking supplies, assisting with inventory and may perform light preventative maintenance under the supervision of the faculty.
Note:Â This position is limited to 19 hours per week and accrues 1 hour of non-compensable sick leave for every 40 hours worked.

Under The General Guidance Of The Lead Welding Faculty, Perform a Variety Of Tasks That Help Ensure a Safe And Clean Work Environment Including
- Assist in moving and organizing general supplies and materials.
- Clean and organize metal storage (by size and type).
- Monitor scrap metal bin levels.
- Burn metal down and stack on burn shelf.
- Cleaning burn areas (inside and outside)
- Remove metal from lockers and booths.
- Monitor and check gas bottles, electrode holders, temp ovens and fill as needed.
- Clean, sweep and perform general lab upkeep.
- Support the set-up, cleaning and checking of tools, equipment and materials in accordance with standardized procedures including shop equipment and tools.
- May assist faculty with installation/repair of equipment and performing preventative maintenance.
- Label supplies and maintain records.
- Follow all safety rules for work areas.
- Demonstrate professional communication. Â
- Provide high quality and professional customer service at all times.
- Work effectively and efficiently with faculty, staff, and students, as part of a team, to keep the welding lab running smoothly.
- May perform other related work as assigned.
- Ability to perform work in a welding/industrial shop environment.Â
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Must be able to obtain a clear background check.
- Commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and a variety of experiences.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Â
- Experience working in a shop or industrial trades related environmentÂ
- Welding experience
- Current in first aid/CPR
