Responsibilities

  • Transcribe orders, maintain accurate medication records, and ensure documentation reflects care plans and patient status.

Drug Administration

  • Ensure staff administer medications as ordered; maintain adequate stock and narcotic records; report discrepancies to the Director of Nursing.
  • Order medications and supplies as needed; ensure policies for stop orders and disposal are followed.

Staff and Care Management

  • Participate in performance evaluations and staffing planning; communicate staffing needs and coverage issues to the Director of Nursing.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to nursing personnel; conduct daily rounds and address problem areas with the Director of Nursing.
  • Supervise nurse aides and ensure adherence to policies; collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Resident Rights

  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure residents are treated with dignity, privacy, and respect; honor residents’ rights including the right to refuse treatment in accordance with policy.
  • Document and respond to complaints and grievances; investigate and resolve per procedures; maintain records of complaints with current status.

Education, Experience, and Requirements

  • Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: On-the-job training provided.
  • Licensure: Current, active RN license in the state.
