Shop Service Technician - Night Shift Job at HOLT CAT in San Antonio

Overview

Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. This full-time, 2nd shift Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Shop Service Technician position is located in San Antonio, Texas at 5665 Connally Loop, S East Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78222. Hours are Monday–Friday, 3 pm to 12 am.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
• Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling
• Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions and maintains equipment and components
• Demonstrates good customer relations and supports; communicates customer needs to shop management
• Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
• Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
• Mentors and helps train other technicians
• Maintains all equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition
• Works safely and adheres to all safety policies; complies with company policies, procedures, and standards
• Works overtime as required by workload and customer needs
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths)
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• At least two years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred
• Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

Additional Requirements

• Must have all required mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of heavy equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt-moving equipment
• Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
• Quality control analysis skills to conduct tests and inspections and communicate findings
• Operation and control skills for equipment or systems
• Equipment selection skills to determine tools and equipment needed
• Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
• Ability to operate controls of a machine to exact positions
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and repair equipment
• Ability to read, write, and understand information
• Ability to listen and understand information presented through spoken words

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move objects and use core muscles to provide support without fatigue
• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Constant movement and good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
• Ascends/descends ladders or equipment and can maneuver safely underneath equipment
• Routinely reacts to visual and audible signals and inspects work
