brookwoodhc is hiring: Housekeeping/Laundry Aide in Homestead

Position Purpose: Performs a variety of general laundry and housekeeping/cleaning duties to provide quality laundry service and maintain the nursing center in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly manner.

Nursing home experience preferred

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and understand directions.
• Previous housekeeping/laundry experience preferred.

Major Duties or Responsibilities:

• Inventories, labels, and properly identifies clothing and personal items brought in with new patients.
• Maintains equipment used in performing duties; cleans washers and dryers, lint filters, and soap dispensers at the end of each shift.
• Washes contaminated linens separately from other laundry.
• Presses garments, checks clothing condition, folds linen, and returns sufficient clean linen to the linen room on each unit.
• Picks up soiled linen from units throughout the shift. Prepares articles for washing. Uses dryer to dry linens and patient clothing.
• Sorts soiled laundry into appropriate loads for washing.
• Follows standard washing procedures.
• Cleans, dusts, washes, and disinfects fixtures, floors, walls, doors, ceilings, and other surfaces as directed.
• Scours and polishes water fountains, sinks, mirrors, doors, panels, and fixtures.
• Changes soiled slipcovers, scarves, doilies, etc., and arranges furniture and equipment neatly.
• Vacuums and shampoos carpets and rugs.
• Maintains order in the supply room by cleaning lockers and equipment and organizing supplies.
• Performs any other miscellaneous work as required.

Long-Term Care experience is a plus
