Hendrickson is a supplier of truck suspension systems and components as well as an aftermarket supplier for various truck components to the heavy-duty vehicle market. Hendrickson has a fantastic opportunity for a Third Shift Supervisor in our Manufacturing operations just North of Fort Wayne, IN located in Kendallville, Indiana.
Position Purpose
Supervise hourly employees to achieve established customer service goals, productivity levels, safety requirements, product quality standards and good housekeeping goals. Ensure and promote safety, success, teamwork, and quality in the work environment. Identify problems and develop plans to continuously improve uses/processes of material, machines, and employee resources. Execution of MOS system on the shop floor.
Essential Functions
- Supervise and conduct daily shift meetings to keep employees aware of production levels, delivery performance, quality, overtime, upcoming events, etc. Track attendance, schedule vacations, ensure compliance to the employee handbook etc. Provide leadership and discipline to assure a consistent application of the company rules and procedures. Schedule overtime of hourly personnel as required per guidelines.
- Manage daily staffing and output levels to meet or exceed planned productivity levels. Motivate, provide clear directions and set expectations for hourly personnel.
- Ensure that all hourly personnel have the training and cross training needed, tools required and are held accountable to set expectations. Coach team members in the areas of productivity, code of conduct, teamwork QPDS and provide any other assistance deemed necessary to meet the manufacturing team objectives.
- Participate in production planning, quality system development, hourly training, development and implementation of new systems.
- Ensure employee safety by ensuring all safety devices are in use and the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times. Report all accidents/near misses to the operations manager and safety manager within 24 hours. Assist with implementing and sustaining corrective actions. Ensure associates within a specific production area attend all safety related training events.
Education and Training
Required: Academic: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Academic: BA/BS Degree or Associates degree
Minimum Qualifications
Number of years required: 1 yr. Leadership/Supervisory role
Preferred Experience: 1-3 years of supervisor experience, machining & rubber molding experience preferred.
Previous job experience required: Manufacturing and Supervisory experience, Familiarity with Quality systems and processes, Lean Manufacturing, Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations. Equipment: Good Computer skills, Microsoft applications, Project Management skills
