Under the direction of and reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for producing a quality product that meets customer specifications in a safe and efficient manner. Perform all necessary preparations for daily operations based on production orders and schedules.

Shift: 3rd Shift - 10:00 pm - 6:00 am, Monday to Friday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines, add film, and complete changeovers to maximize output while maintaining correct weights, temperatures, dates, and scale integrity.
  • Verify supply availability and notify personnel of shortages or issues.
  • Assist in solving operational problems, machinery adjustments, changeovers, and quality checks at workstations.
  • Communicate with team members to resolve production issues.
  • Diagnose and address equipment malfunctions and packaging problems to meet volume and quality standards.
  • Maintain production records and distribute reports as specified.
  • Coordinate with Process Tech, Maintenance, and Supervisors to ensure smooth operation.
  • Set up and verify correct packaging, coding, and labeling.
  • Conduct and record metal detection checks and monitor for non-conformance issues.
  • Adjust heat seals, monitor weights, oxygen checks, and case counts, and record data accordingly.
  • Scan materials and finished products into the computer system per instructions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.
  • Follow the Sargento Code of Business and Personal Ethics.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions and solve basic problems.
  • Forklift certification as required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly required to stand, handle, reach, and lift up to 100 pounds. Work environment involves exposure to humid conditions, cold temperatures, fumes, and loud noise. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.
