Overview
The Quality Technician will provide support through precise laboratory testing, hands-on verification of Food Safety and Quality policies and procedures, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other departments to produce Safe, Quality products. The Quality Technician must have a natural keen attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks, and effective verbal and written communication with all staff.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents analysis of raw materials, intermediate and finished products. Interprets results based on trends, specification limits and comparison data.
- Performs troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Communicates internally and externally (verbal and written) with clarity and professionalism. Presents information clearly and concisely.
- Maintains the laboratory in a clean and orderly manner daily.
- Acts as a role model for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Provides expertise to business units in troubleshooting Food Safety and Quality related problems.
- Performs audits on equipment, materials, processing and storage areas, products and procedures.
- Manages inventory of chemicals and lab testing supplies.
- Communicates detailed summaries of incidents and actions taken to affected departments (e.g., production, distribution, scheduling).
- Supports and participates in safety activities.
- Cross-trains to support other duties as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules.
- Reports food safety and quality concerns to supervision, quality or senior management.
Qualifications
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and ERP system).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Quality experience in a food manufacturing facility and/or laboratory preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
- Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Background and/or studies in Science and/or Lab environment a plus.
