Overview
St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – North Campus (FTC-N), a Missouri Department of Mental Health forensic inpatient facility, has a position for a Missouri licensed or license-eligible psychologist. The position is currently open with start date negotiable. FTC-N is a 75-bed inpatient forensic psychiatric hospital serving adults committed to the Department of Mental Health as incompetent to stand trial. Location: 5351 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63112. Salary based upon training and experience. Days off/hours: Sat/Sun 1st Shift.

What you’ll do
The psychologist hired for this position will provide treatment and serve as a unit psychologist on a 25-bed inpatient competency restoration treatment unit. The facility seeks a person who is passionate about inpatient treatment and working within a team setting. Duties include providing individual and group therapies to persons committed as incompetent to stand trial. The role requires substantial knowledge of psychotherapy with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness, neurocognitive impairment, intellectual impairment, and personality disorders. Experience with substance use disorders is a plus. Specific training in Competency Restoration interventions is provided.
As an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, the psychologist will participate in team decision-making, treatment planning, and consultation with psychiatry, pharmacy, nursing, social work, and rehabilitation staff. Expertise in facilitating the team process is important. The psychologist will conduct psychological assessments as needed, administer, score, and interpret intellectual, neurocognitive, and personality assessments, and provide written reports for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. The psychologist may also have the opportunity to conduct competency evaluations for the court. All psychologists serve the facility through leadership of and participation in facility committees and special projects aligned with Joint Commission accreditation standards. The psychologist may function as a supervisor for the St. Louis Psychology Internship Consortium (SLPIC) and provide didactics in areas of specialty.
Duties Include
- Develop and implement individual treatment plans
- Conduct individual therapy and lead treatment groups
- Conduct psychological assessments as needed and complete necessary treatment documentation
- Opportunities to supervise practicum students and psychology interns
- Participate in hospital-wide committees and other leadership opportunities
Minimum Qualifications
All you need for success:
- Doctorate in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensure as a Psychologist, or license eligibility in Missouri
- If not licensed at time of hire, must attain license within 18 months
