Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, specify, and direct the design and construction of approved capital projects with a focus on building system infrastructure.
- Develop and implement plans to fulfill the facilities management objective of providing a warm, attractive, safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and employees that can be effectively maintained and cleaned.
- Lead and manage capital project budgets and schedules; ensure cost control and timely delivery.
- Assess facilities design needs, direct facilities design and construction to align with departmental objectives, Life Safety Master Plan, and applicable codes and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with Department Team Leaders, consultants, and contractors; present proposals and secure consensus.
- Manage the project construction process, including site visits, contractor questions, access control, and coordination of service interruptions.
- Oversee consultants and act as liaison between the department and design/construction teams; review and approve drawings, specifications, schedules, and progress payments.
- Maintain project documentation, track progress, and ensure alignment with budget and schedule; escalate deviations to the Team Leader of General Support Services.
- Support energy conservation and decarbonization efforts where applicable.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field; or other bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of hospital/healthcare project management experience (Required).
- An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Preferred Certifications/Licenses: CHFM, CHC, AHA Certified, PE (Professional Engineer) or other recognized facilities certifications.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in designing, constructing, renovating, inspecting, and maintaining hospital building systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, controls, etc.).
- Experience as an owners’ project management representative (Preferred).
- Experience in startup/commissioning of building systems and in energy conservation and decarbonization (Strongly considered).
- Ability to manage budgets, cost estimates, and schedules; ensure costs do not exceed approved budgets without authorization.
- Strong communication skills; ability to collaborate in a team and translate program needs into feasible facility solutions.
