Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator must ensure safe and efficient operation, meeting safety, security, and productivity standards. Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, quality, and teamwork, and to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receiving/Put-Away: Input data accurately into WMS; efficiently stack and store product in appropriate areas; maintain an organized work area.
• Order Picking: Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring exact quantities and types are loaded and shipped; perform picking duties to meet customer service standards; prepare freight for operations accurately and timely as required.
• Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and damage-free; report quality variances; support 4C’s initiatives (Customer Satisfaction, Clean and Safe Work Environment, Complete Risk Prevention, Continuous Improvement and 5S).
• Delivery: Move product from staging/storage to production lines and/or staging docks; ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.
• Inventory: Maintain records and reports for tight inventory control and security; assist in physical inventories; ensure proper stock rotation through daily work.
• Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe work environment; comply with SOPs, policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards; perform work safely.
• Equipment Operation: Load/unload/move/stack/stage product using a reach forklift or other power equipment; daily inspection of forklift/equipment; operate equipment safely following OSHA checklists; maintain active forklift certification; correct pallets stored improperly or unsafe pallets as needed.
• Maintenance: Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.

Other Duties (Site Specific)

• Participate in physical inventories; perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking; change fuel tanks on forklifts; perform or assist in maintenance; repair pallets, trailers, and truck bays; perform other duties as assigned; work overtime as dictated by business needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months experience in a logistics/distribution environment.
• Ability to operate stand-up Reach Truck while placing/removing pallets from elevated storage media.
• Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures (varying seasons).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

• Satisfactory completion of forklift training program.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Computer Skills

• Basic computer skills; RF Scanners; WMS functions.

Language Skills

• English (reading, writing, verbal).

Mathematical Skills

• Basic to intermediate level for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related duties.

Other

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work with minimal supervision; adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years in warehouse/logistics/distribution; forklift experience; stand-up reach lift experience; current or prior MHE certification; ability to operate Electric Pallet Jack and Dock Loader (Pacer) when needed.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally: Handling/fingering, sitting.
• Frequently: Bending.
• Constantly: Walking and standing; ability to lift 21-50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat or kneel.
