Overview
Excelsior Defense is accepting applications for professional Unarmed Security Officers at a U.S. VA location in Albuquerque. As an employee for a federal contract, officers are paid a base wage of $16.20 per hour and also make an additional $4.57 per hour that is disbursed through a 401(a) savings account or can be disbursed toward medical insurance. We offer competitive wages, flexible scheduling, overtime, paid vacation, medical insurance, dental insurance and vision. We have full-time swing shifts available (1500-2300, Wed-Sun); veterans or retirees are encouraged to apply.
Must have a valid unarmed security guard license within the state of New Mexico. Must complete background check, fingerprinting and drug screening in order to gain employment on a federal site. (This is done by Excelsior Defense once selected for employment.)

Responsibilities
- Protect company's property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
- Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances
- Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property
- Apprehend criminals and evict violators
- Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences
- Report in detail any suspicious incidents
- Patrol randomly or regularly building and perimeter
- Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates
- Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment
- Perform first aid or CPR
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position
- Valid Class D Security License active with the State of Florida
- Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
- Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
- Surveillance skills and detail orientation
- Integrity and professionalism
- High school degree
