Overview
Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant who is driven to provide excellent care to our patients. Training will include 2-3 weeks with nursing education to learn about our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. As a Nursing Assistant, you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact the care and experience of our patients.
Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide patient care treatments as directed, including discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Regularly collect specimens such as urine, stool, and finger-stick blood glucose as directed by the nurse. Respond to patient call lights and requests, communicate with patients and visitors, and assist nurses with procedures. Document and chart in the electronic health system.
Work Schedule / FTE
7 FTE (28 hours per week) working nights (11:00 pm – 7:30 am). This position requires you to work every other weekend and holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include being listed on the MN Registry).
Or
- Experience in an acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician (6 months at a minimum of 0.5 FTE).
Or
- Completion of one clinical rotation in a RN or LPN program within the past 12 months.
And
- A current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Experience or nursing assistant education must have occurred within the last five (5) years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position.
- Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences.
- Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills.
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting.
- Nursing assistant certification.
- Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
