The Town of Yarmouth is searching for a professional truck driver to join our Highway team. Working under the direct supervision of the Highway Supervisor, the Heavy Truck Driver II operates a variety of heavy trucks and hand and power tools, performs mowing and trimming, maintains drainage, brush work, and general road/sidewalk construction and maintenance, and plows roads and sidewalks using heavy trucks and shovels. The role includes performing manual labor in the construction and maintenance of roads and sidewalks and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy trucks and associated equipment.
• Perform mowing/trimming, raking, seeding, drains installation/repair, and brushing tasks.
• Plow roads and sidewalks using heavy trucks and shovels; perform related road/sidewalk construction and maintenance duties.
• Replace and repair sign poles; pick up litter and deceased animals from roadways; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of experience in light equipment operation and truck driving or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CDL Class B License with air brake endorsement; 1D Hoisting License is required.
• Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions; ability to drive heavy trucks for long periods in all weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms; sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds independently; able to conduct visual inspections in the field.
