General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate engages customers with eye contact, smiles, and a courteous greeting, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of tasks in all store areas as needed and may be asked to take on additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all activities.
  • Maintain high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates through company programs.
  • Assist Customers: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers throughout the store and thank them at checkout.
  • Provide prompt responses to Customers; respond to inquiries immediately; escalate issues to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping, restocking) to maintain clean areas and presentation.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Conduct daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per guidelines; maintain brand familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention awareness, Shortage Highway, SPS position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper disposal processes; handle cash, checks, cards, and refunds accurately.
  • Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and align with store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds
