General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all duties.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers and acknowledge associates using company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed; demonstrate register training, assist with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact and a friendly greeting.
  • Provide prompt and courteous responses to Customer Service calls and issues; involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain store and restrooms; disinfect high-touch areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, SPS (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper processing of disposals; maintain awareness and accuracy in cash handling.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds (associates working Stockroom shifts may lift more than 20 pounds).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
