General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe shopping environment.
  • Maintain clutter-free sales floor and clear egress to emergency exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers and acknowledge them throughout the Store.
  • Assist Customers; be register-trained, respond to questions knowledgeably, and support merchandise needs.
  • Respond promptly to Customer Service calls and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and replenishment to maintain cleanliness and presentation of merchandise and facilities.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure neat, organized stores and standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and present items per monthly guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; uphold integrity in all interactions.
  • Follow MOS policies and proper processing and notifications for disposals.
  • Follow cash, check, card, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy.
  • Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in the workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop as needed.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
