Maimonides Medical Center is hiring: Guard in New York

Overview

Serves as a liaison between patients/visitors and hospital staff; preserves the peace and safeguards patients, visitors and employees from fire, theft and vandalism on Medical Center property through the enforcement of hospital regulations and applicable New York State law; maintains security of parking garage and lots, parking and directing cars and collecting parking fees as directed.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and practices relating to patient safety.
• Patrols all areas of Medical Center, including stairwells and areas not accessible to the public in order to prevent and/or detect fires, thefts, vandalism and other security problems.
• Acts as liaison between patients/visitors and the Medical Center, interpreting the Medical Center's philosophy, policies, procedures and services to patients\' families and visitors.
• Provides regular reports on patient/visitor issues to administration; investigates and directs inquiries to appropriate staff members.
• Assists in referring patients and visitors to appropriate services and resources; responds personally when other alternatives are not available.
• Detects violations of the law and makes arrests when necessary, and represents the Medical Center as the complainant/witness in any court proceedings that result.
• Prepares incident reports and conducts investigations when necessary.
• Assists in restraining emotionally disturbed patients.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of NYS approved Security Guard Training Program.
• Successful completion of de-escalation training course.
• BLS/AED training and certification.
• Current NYS registration as security guard (per Security Guard Act).
• Current valid driver’s license and the ability to drive standard transmission vehicles required.
• Experience: Previous experience in the security field required.
• Skills: Must pass basic math skills test; must pass security guard test; ability to drive standard shift cars; good oral communication and interpersonal skills; able to prepare written reports and conduct investigations when needed; speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position; knowledge of a second language preferred.

Pay

Base pay range
$26.44/hr - $28.93/hr
