Job Description
Fanatics is seeking a communications lead to oversee the earned media strategy and publicity for the company’s full suite of sports and entertainment programming that brings fans closer to the athletes, teams, and moments they love. From original shows and feature films to digital shorts, special event coverage, branded content, and live events, Fanatics’ storytelling captures the energy, culture, and emotion of sports.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Fanatics Communications team and social team members across the broader company platform - which includes fan apparel and sports retail, trading cards and collectibles, online sports betting and iGaming, live events including Fanatics Fest, and more – to build buzz-worthy PR campaigns that drive impactful coverage and awareness of our entertainment properties, and amplify the broader Fanatics brand.
What You'll Do
Oversee the earned media strategy and publicity for various content and entertainment initiatives and programs. Build awareness, drive audience engagement, and position Fanatics as a leader in sports storytelling. Maintain a strong roster of relationships with current and emerging journalists and outlets across media / content, sports, entertainment, digital, consumer, and business press which consistently drives impactful earned media coverage. Coordinate press junkets, screenings, media tours, and events with talent, executives, and partners to maximize exposure for content projects. Craft compelling communications materials, including press releases, media messaging, and briefing documents. Collaborate closely with marketing, social, creative, legal, internal communications, production, and other key stakeholders to ensure cohesive storytelling across all channels. Anticipate and manage potential crises or sensitive issues involving content or talent, protecting brand integrity and public trust. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of PR strategies, providing actionable recommendations for optimization. What We're Looking For
10+ years of experience in communications, PR, or publicity with a focus on media (traditional and/or streaming / DTC), content (including branded and sponsored content projects), sports, or entertainment (combinations of these disciplines a plus) Proven track record of launching and promoting premium content in competitive media landscapes. Established relationships at traditional and emerging media, entertainment, sports, consumer, trade, and business outlets. Deep comprehension of the rapidly evolving media landscape and experience working across traditional/social/new/emerging media to most effectively deliver results. Experience managing press junkets, premieres, and talent-driven campaigns (experience with Upfronts a plus) Demonstrated ability to navigate highly complex environments, balance multiple stakeholders, business priorities, and fast-changing circumstances. Clear and concise communication style; strong written and verbal skills that can effectively convey complex ideas. Skilled at operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, and constantly evolving environment. Passion for sports, pop culture, and innovative storytelling. Self-starter with the drive to work independently and proactively. The salary range for this position is
$225,000 to $250,000 , which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training. About Us
