Private Equity Co-investment Overview: Capital Dynamics’ global co-investment team typically makes investments in mid-market companies alongside established lead investors and specialist sponsors who have a history of strong performance, relevant sector expertise, consistent strategy and execution, and whose teams have shown that they can invest successfully through different economic cycles. The Co-investment team has raised/deployed several successive co-investment funds and is currently investing out of Mid-Market Direct VI, its latest flagship vehicle. The co-investment team invests in companies in North America, Europe, and the rest of the world, particularly developed Asia. Role Purpose: We seek to hire an Associate to assist members of the US Co-investments team in the analysis, due diligence, and monitoring of direct investments, as well as periodic valuation, reporting, and other functional areas as needed. Key tasks and responsibilities: Participate in direct investment selection, fund portfolio management, and reporting. Support US co-invest colleagues in the management of the deal pipeline and screening of inbound deal-flow to evaluate potential fit for the MMDVI portfolio. Undertake due diligence on prospective investments, including financial statement analysis, sensitivity testing, development of various investment cases, market assessments, reference calls, meeting lead sponsors and management, and preparation of co-investment memoranda for investment committee review and consideration. Present investment cases and underwriting scenarios to the co-investment and/or global investment committee. Work in conjunction with the primaries team to develop relationships with financial sponsors to help source investment opportunities. Review transaction documentation; prepare closing certificates, valuation analyses, and the periodic reports (commentary and numerical data) used to communicate with fund investors. Support fundraising efforts, including preparation of marketing documents and communication with investors. Support the deployment of AI-enabled systems and tools for various operational and valuation processes. Attend lead sponsor AGMs, quarterly portfolio company board meetings, and other external events as needed. Complete one-off projects as they may arise from time to time. Skills and Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree from a well-regarded institution with a strong GPA. Three to five years’ relevant experience in private equity (direct and/or co-investments, secondaries), investment banking (M&A/coverage/leveraged finance), Consulting, or a related field. Highly developed quantitative skills, strong financial modeling and writing skills (financial analysis, modeling, valuation, and reporting). Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to produce a high-quality work product. Project management and presentation skills combined with multi-tasking abilities. An interest in developing an understanding of the legal framework and documentation typical of a direct investment. Sound investment judgment with a keen awareness of risk, return, and exposure management. Highly developed verbal/written communication skills (articulate, balanced, and persuasive). Desirable language skills – German, Italian, French, Spanish, Japanese, and South Korean. Remuneration: This role will offer a first-year total compensation package of USD 190,000 - 210,000 per annum (base and bonus). Compensation offered will be based on the level of experience the candidate is able to bring to the role. Additional information: This is an office-based role, working out of our New York location, a minimum of 4 days per week. To be considered, candidates must be able to travel to the CD New York office for in-person interviews.
